5 Elements of Ojas

We mentioned that we have come up with our own twist on the concept of ojas for you to use as a guide when trying to attain optimal wellness and overall health. We created 5 Elements of Ojas for you to consider when on this journey and in this process we examined all possibilities and felt that the following 5 elements capture the various parts of our lives and are all interconnected. We hope that it will help you be able to reflect and restore yourself to your optimal wellness while the roller coaster called life takes its course.

V I T A L I T Y 🌞

Vitality is our first element of ojas since it is the state of being full of life and energy. The idea of optimal vitality is holistic and will differ from person to person at various stages of life and involves vigorous physical, mental and emotional strength. A person of great vitality has the capacity for survival and the continuation of a meaningful and purposeful existence. You will notice that all aspects of life can easily be reconnected back to the concept of vitality so keep that in mind when learning about the next 4 elements!

I M M U N I T Y 💊

Immunity is is our second element of ojas and is definitely a more clearly defined one. Immunity is the balanced state of organisms having adequate biological defences to fight infection, disease, or other unwanted biological invasion, while having adequate tolerance to avoid allergy, and autoimmune diseases. Our immune system defends our body against invaders, such as viruses, bacteria, and foreign bodies, and building up our immunity aids in improving our overall physical health and overall wellness.  

M E N T A L  W E L L N E S S 🧠

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act determining how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood and is why our third element is mental wellness, since it goes hand-in-hand with physical health. When you eat well, get enough sleep and stay active, your emotional health can improve.

B A L A N C E ⚖️

Balance as our fourth element of ojas is needed for you to lead a happy and healthy content life. A balanced person in a state of well-being is an individual who realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. Through life’s ups and downs, having balance ensures a person’s growth as an individual and secures mental peace, overall health and well being.

M I N D F U L N E S S  🧘🏻‍♀️

Mindfulness being our fifth and final element of ojas ties everything together in the pursuit of maintaining and building ojas. Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. It is the basic human ability to be fully present and aware of where we are and what we are doing. When we’re mindful, we reduce stress, enhance performance, gain insight and awareness through observing our own mind, and increase our attention to others’ well-being all while approaching our experiences with warmth and kindness to both ourselves as well as those around us.
